WHY ME? MY STORY

Today I have complete food freedom, I love my life at last … and miraculously I can really enjoying eating whatever I want, whenever I want without guilt or any fear of putting on weight or losing control of my eating.

However, for over 3 decades I secretly struggled to control my weight and eating. I tried every fad diet … and failed to find a long term solution.

On the outside amongst friends and at work I always appeared highly competent and cheerful. A joy to be around. But inside I was deeply unhappy behind the mask. I grew up in a loving home where performance was rewarded, peak health & fitness was aspired to and everything (including food), was highly controlled. Being war babies they knew life was survival of the fittest and their job as parents was to prepare us for a tough world. They were very self-critical and the slightest amount of (invisible) weight would immediately be addressed, so being naturally “chubby” (in my mind), meant I wasn’t the “perfect daughter”. This deep need to impress my parents kick-started my obsession with being thin. If I could just be thin I would be perfect and therefore happy. This obsession seeped into every area of my life; every thought, every relationship, my social life my focus at work and it stole my joy.

Thoughts of food would control my mood and my actions. I simply couldn’t understand, I was highly capable and intelligent and yet I couldn’t control this one simple thing - eating. Food had a vice-like grip over me and I simply couldn’t break free.

I despised myself for being weak and lacking the willpower to break the habit cycle on my own …

I became obsessed with sport, calorie-deficit and nutrition. I trained hours a day (and would panic if I couldn’t). If only I knew then what I knew now, my 20s would have been a lot happier.

Now I understand the root cause of this behaviour and it has nothing to do with food or willpower. It is rooted in psychology (why do I still eat when I’m full) and controlling managing a couple of hormones easily through diet.

Through my journey and extensive study with several world class mentors in the field, I have discovered effective strategies to help others break free from the trap of emotional and compulsive eating quickly and forever!

I am a highly experienced, fully Certified Holistic Life Coach (CHLC), Advanced Holistic Lifestyle & Nutrition ( ACHLN), Functional Nutrition (CPD) and Mind-Body Practitioner (MBP).
